How to make an MX-700/800/850 or 1000 PC cable

. . . with or without soldering!

1. The Parts (all from Radio Shack) . . .

            A.  6' Stereo Cable with 1/8" Stereo Plugs - Part No. 4202387 - $3.99

            B.  9-Pin Female D-Sub Socket with Crimp Terminals -

Part No. 2761428 - $1.49 (use Part No. 2761538C for Soldered Terminals)

            C.  9-Pin D-Sub Hood - Part No. 2761539 - $1.49

2.  The Tools . . .

            A.  A wire cutter/stripper

            B.  A crimping tool or needle nose pliers

3. The Procedure . . .

            A.  First, cut the cable to the desired length by cutting off one of the
                   plugs.

            B.  Second, strip the outer insulation and you will see a bare stranded
copper wire, red insulated wire and a black (can be white on some
                   cables) insulated wire.

            C.  Third, strip about 1/4" of the insulation off the red and black wires.

  D.  Fourth, connect the wires to the 9-Pin D-Sub socket by inserting
the wires to the crimp terminals (on the back of the socket) at
the locations shown below, and crimping the connectors
(or
solder the wires to the connectors)

            E.  Fifth, install the D-Sub hood and you're done!
